Australia has about 780 endemic/migratory species and our tour area is home to over 300 of these at different times of the year. Our 1 or 2 day tours are an excellent way of seeing many of Australia's unique bird species.

We can also organise tours around New South Wales, anywhere in Australia or in fact anywhere around the world. All our tours can be conducted at a pace to suit your needs from relaxed to extreme, but all will concentrate on locating as many species as possible across various habitats.
An Introduction To Your Guides
Your tour guides are well known Australian birders Richard Baxter & Phil Hansbro. They are both young (relatively!!!), fit & very knowledgeable about the local birds. They are extremely friendly, helpful & approachable.
Richard is in his early 40’s and has travelled extensively around the local region, Australia and its territories, seeing over 700 species. As well as an avid birder Richard is an exceptional organizer and will make sure that everything goes to plan on what ever trip you participate.

Phil was born in June 1965 & is a top Australian birder. Originally from England he has been in Australia on & off for the past 10 years & in Newcastle since November 1999. He has travelled extensively throughout Australia clocking up over 700 species. Phil holds special interests in both Seabirds and Waders. His high level identification expertise stems from working with these birds in Australia and in over 40 countries spanning every continent.
Through their considerable expertise both in Australia and abroad, your guides know habitats intimately. They know exactly where to look and what to look for, ensuring you will have a great time and maximise your experiences in any region.
We can tailor tours around the Newcastle & Sydney areas, anywhere in New South Wales or Australia or indeed anywhere around the world.
The secret to several of our tours is the variety of habitats that we can take you to in a short period of time. We usually try to finish with an hour or two looking for the local night birds where ever we end up.
Birding tours Australia is based in Newcastle, New South Wales, an easy 1.5hrs drive north of Sydney International Airport.
